I have been delivering the ILM Introduction to Diploma qualification to the Senior Management team at Doddington Lodge. The team have been very receptive to the learning and have taken a pragmatic view on transferring the learning to the workplace.
As part of the qualification each participant has to complete an assignment. The senior management team have coordinated their own work into a programme of improvement for the home as a whole. They have also coordinated the work of the middle management team (all of whom are completing the ILM Introduction to first line management) into the programme of improvement.
In our last discussion the Senior team brought forward the idea of working towards Investors in People. On reflecting on the IiP Standards it was clear that the work carried out to date by the Management team met the requirements and would mean that achievement of the award should be fairly straightforward.
I have been very impressed in the drive of the Management team and their willingness to accept the concepts and theories in the programme. They have applied these effectively in motivating and improving participation of staff at all levels of the organisation.
